■Buzz Rickson's Buzz Rickson's WILLIAM GIBSON COLLECTION BLACK A-10 GLOVE BR02873
The U.S. Army Air Forces Type A-10 glove was adopted in 1938 as a winter glove for pilots. The main material for the leather was stipulated to be goatskin or ponyhide, and the lining is 100% wool knit for a comfortable feel. The wrist features a stress-free, tube-knitted wool knit, to which a reinforcing leather patch is sewn to prevent stretching when worn. The three stitches on the back of the hand are a detail to suppress leather stretching and maintain fit. The stitching on the palm and back of the hand, which goes around all five fingers, requires advanced sewing techniques, and tells a story of delicate stitches carefully sewn over time. <WILLIAM GIBSON COLLECTION> The BLACK MA-1, first produced by Buzz Rickson's when the brand celebrated its 10th anniversary. The world-renowned novelist William Gibson's "Pattern Recognition" features the words "Buzz Rickson's Black MA-1" worn by the protagonist. From that novel, the actual Buzz Rickson's Black MA-1 was born. The standard color for the MA-1 officially adopted by the US Air Force in the 1950s was originally sage green, but there was no authentic BLACK MA-1 on the market that was black and used military-grade parts and materials based on military specifications. Therefore, it was well-received and became a hot topic among authentic users in the market. Even if all materials are specified in black, the dyeing process differs depending on the material, and when assembled into a single jacket, subtle color differences appear, clearly showing how many different materials a flight jacket is made of. The company's relationship with the military is long-standing, with roots in supplying products such as souvenir jackets (e.g., sukajan) to US military bases during the era of its predecessor, Koshu Shōji. In 1993, the company launched its first flight jacket. Since then, the military wear it has reproduced, like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear, are all perfectly crafted. ![]() Black
