The U.S. Army Air Corps Type A-10 gloves were adopted in 1938 as winter gloves for pilots. The main material for the leather was stipulated to be goatskin or ponyhide, and the lining is made of 100% wool knit for a comfortable feel. The wrist features a stress-free, tube-knit wool cuff, with a reinforcing patch sewn onto the knit to prevent stretching during wear. The three stitches on the back of the hand are a detail designed to prevent leather stretching and maintain a snug fit. The stitching that goes back and forth around the five fingers, connecting the palm and back of the hand, requires advanced sewing techniques, indicating that the delicate stitches were carefully sewn over a long period.
