 A very rare vintage item has been reproduced. It is knitted on a circular loom (no side seams) using an old Azuma knitting machine. This knitting machine allows for excellent stretch, a soft feel, and a unique mochi-like, plump texture. The old Azuma knitting machine produces a looped back fabric characterized by a vintage feel and lightness. This knitting machine is one of those that replaced loopwheel machines in the 1970s as knitting machines evolved into innovative models, and few of these rare machines still exist. Because it knits slowly, the daily production volume is low, but it offers a texture similar to loopwheel knitting, characterized by an uneven surface and a plump feel. Regarding napping, while open-width fabrics can be napped in a single process, circular napping requires the fabric to be laid flat and napped on four sides, The process of napping all around the fabric takes four times the effort. The napping is done before dyeing. Following vintage sewing techniques, most seams are double-stitched, but the cuffs are made with circular-knitted ribs, which are attached in a single pass directly from the double-stitched underarm seam. This piece faithfully reproduces the original sewing of that era, a quality that is now difficult to obtain in vintage items.  JELADO was founded in 2004.
